Rammstein isn’t banned but like the Scots group Runrig does not subscribe nor sign an agreement with the RIAA. Many many venues for music concerts in the U.S. have agreements with the RIAA restricting use of the venue to groups that are signed to the RIAA. The days when you had to have a record label to be known for your music are over a decade past now. The idea that you have to hire a company to collect your royalties for you is past.
But, the old guys of the record industry lock out those that will not sign and block groups that do not want to sign an agreement for the U.S. when they do their recording in other countries. bad old days. A radio station was not allowed to play RIAA music unless they subscribed for a fee and agreed to ONLY play music from RIAA signatories. This locked out small bands and bands from other countries that were not RIAA signatories. In other words, if you weren’t part of a large U.S. record label; you wouldn’t get heard in the U.S. Rammstein doesn’t play nice with greedy corporate types. So the greedy corporate types rile up local fire marshals to harass the group. Easier just to go to another playground rather than put up with a bully.

I can tell you why I think they do not come to America often. My brother used to be involved in pyrotechnics. His “boss” had sought to contract with the management company to do a Rammstein show in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The locality refused to issue a permit for the pyro show, and Rammstein immediately cancelled the show. If you know Rammstein, you are aware of their penchant for industrial type pyrotechnics, especially the use of gasoline fueled flares. Most American jurisdictions are very cautious about the burning of flammables like gasoline in a public venue. So, I think Rammstein stuck with their artistic view of the stage show and decided it isn’t worth the hassle of the rules and regulations in the United States, and therefore, they limit the number of dates in America. This is my opinion, based upon my brother’s experience.
In reality, nothing is banned in the US. There are plenty of places that would object to such a band holding a concert in their area with Rammstein 25th Anniversary 1994 2019 Thank You For The Memories Shirt. Some of the things this band is known for would get members dragged away by cops in the middle of a performance. Also, any band using pyrotechnics is going to have all sorts of insurance and safety requirements – that they probably do not want to bother with. Hence, no concerts.
Because Rammstein songs are almost all are in German language. But their fans are not all German and neither do they all understand German. But Rammstein has a huge number of fan though. They have created a spot in the audiences mind through the tone and the bit and most of all their pyrotechnics. Their songs are so catchy and even though you don’t understand them at all they will draw you with the metallic vibe.
Have Rammstein the right to do this? Do they trivialise the suffering of Holocaust victims? How can they justify using Holocaust imagery to promote their new video? These are important questions that are part of a much bigger debate about the ethics of using the Holocaust in art and media.
Other scenes include the band walking away from a flaming airship, referring to the 1937 Hindenburg Disaster, in which 36 people died. Rats scuttle across the floor when the monks first appear, suggesting the Pied Piper of Hamelin, a legend with origins in the 13th century.
Germania walks towards the camera in a leather jacket, gold jewellery and a string of bullets across her chest, resembling the chariot drawn by four horses (the ‘Quadriga’) on top of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The band members’ heads are shown as white marble busts, taking us to the 19th century Walhalla memorial in Bavaria, built as German Hall of Fame, its sculpted heads of German worthies on display to this day.

In the prison, hundreds of banknotes fall from above, suggesting the devastating hyperinflation Germany suffered in the 1920s. Nazis burn books, intercut with religious fanatics burning witches. We recognise members of the Red Army Faction (also known as the Baader-Meinhof group), a militant organisation active in the 1970s in West Germany. And in a blink-or-you-miss-it exchange, we are reminded of the much-criticised relationship between the churches and the state during the Third Reich.
There’s no affection, and perhaps not much hope: its pessimistic tone seems to be quite an off-brand message for post-1989 Germany, which wants to acknowledge its past critically, while also looking to its future as a state at the heart of Europe. And actually, while we get a lot of medieval and twentieth-century history, the video’s tour through the past seems to stop in the late 1980s, before the fall of the Berlin Wall and Reunification of East and West Germany. Instead, we jump into the future, where the space-suited band take Germania into the unknown, travelling in that coffin-shaped glass box. There’s an echo of the video for Sonne, where Snow White is trapped in a glass coffin. In fact, a piano version of Sonne plays over the end credits of Deutschland and wear Rammstein 25th Anniversary 1994 2019 Thank You For The Memories Shirt. This is a useful link for understanding something of what Rammstein is doing here. In Sonne, where the band’s characters free themselves of Snow White (naturally, they’ve been her sex-slaves), only to realise that they have made a mistake and long for her return, the overwhelming feeling of Deutschland seems to be that when it comes to Germania (or Germany): you can’t love her, and you can’t live without her.
